The new iPad does not support 4G in France

The news may seem surprising as the Cupertino company has accustomed us to be one step ahead of everyone. The information has yet been confirmed by Apple.
At the announcement of the compatibility of the 'new iPad with 4G LTE North American media have all asked about the compatibility with the future French network supposed to emerge by 2013.Qualcomm chip manufacturer 4G (MDM9600) powering the iPad, was the first to respond by saying that his chip was well and truly compatible with the French network despite using different frequencies (the network of Verizon and AT & T occupies the range of 700 MHz and 2100 MHz while ARCEP has awarded a few months ago the French operators of frequencies around 800 MHz and 2600).

The company Qualcomm was right in stating that they must wait for official confirmation from Apple to conclude that the iPad was just as capable with European frequencies. Indeed, ten days later, Apple announced in Electronics Magazine Clubic that "iPad Wi-Fi + 4G 4G LTE will operate on North American networks while offering the best throughput of current 3G networks in Europe ". The explanation comes from the hardware configuration of the tablet and especially antennas that would not be as flexible as the chip MDM9600.

Unless Apple Europe so a special version of the new iPad, so we will be satisfied with our 3G + network and flow "maximum" of 42Mb/sec. Nevertheless, the average flow networks rarely exceed 5 Mb / s according to ARCEP and HSPA + for such a flow (instead of 7.2 Mb / sec usual) covered only 50% of the population in December last. Do not rush to the 'new iPad if your main argument was to surf faster. It is not surprising to see retailers use the name iPad 4G 'soon sued by consumer groups.
